Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF)
Scope
KOSEF is initiating the Post-Doctoral Fellowships Program to cultivate research manpower in new S&T among the ASEAN member economies by supporting young scientists of ASEAN member economies through the ASEAN Post-Doctoral Fellowships Program.
Research Fields:
1. Areas building research capacities:
- Natural science and basic science
- Social science related with science and technology
2. Areas connected with economic development:
- Energy, Environment, Food, Agriculture, Fishery etc.
Applicant should be choose 1 of 3 institutions:
- Korea universities, University-affiliated research institutions in Korea
- Private industry-affiliated research institutions in Korea
- Government-supported research institutions in Korea
Condition
Applicants should make contact with Korean sponsoring scientists in advance and hold an invitation letter from his/her Korean host researcher.
Applicants should be recommended by a nominating authority designated by KOSEF and submit the attached documents, in accordance with item 21 of the application form.
Applicants should have received a Ph.D. within ten years prior to the commencement of the Fellowship or will receive a Ph.D. within six months(in this case, the certification of his/her professor should be involved).
Applicants should have a good command of spoken/written English (or the Korean language).
Applicants should be in good health, both physically and mentally, so as not to hinder the advancement of research projects.
Application
Each applicant must submit 1 copy of the Application Form by 30 September, 2000 to the address listed in section below.
KOSEF will conduct applicant screening in November, 2000, through a committee related to KOSEF.
KOSEF will inform the applicant nation's nominating authorities by 31 December, 2000, whether or not applicants have been accepted.
Allowance
A living allowance of 1,300,000 Won per month (2-year fellowship grants will be offered under next year's budget).
Round-trip airplane tickets for fellows only (Ticket will be issued by KOSEF and sent to applicant by PTA).
Overseas travel accident insurance guaranteeing coverage of medical treatment during the fellowship recipient's stay in Korea in accordance with local insurance company policy. Any expenses for medical treatment not covered by the policy must be borne by the fellowship recipients themselves.
Duration
- Fellowships are awarded for a period of 6-24 months
- Each fellowship must begin between January 1 - April 30,of each year
Contact
The application must be submitted to KOSEF after recommendation by the nominating authority of the applicant's country. Any applicant not recommended by the nominating authority and a Korean host scientist will not be accepted.
